Scuba Dancing by Nicola Slade

"This book is fabulous, I sat down to have a quick look after dinner on Wednesday and suddenly it was midnight and I was halfway throught the book! This is just what I needed to read now...a warm funny moving story about realistic characters. I want to move to that village. It's been a long time since I was so enamoured with a book that I wanted to call in sick and stay in bed to finish it! Well done Nicola Slade."

What a fabulous read! After devouring the first half of the book I savoured the second half. I can hardly bear to part with it (even the cover is lovely). I am one of those annoying people who always sees the twists and turns in plot line coming from a mile off...This one had me down! I was so completely engaged and wrapped in the story and I just didn't see it coming. Beautiful. I eagerly await her next novel."

Emotional Geology by Linda Gillard

"Found on a train on the way home. I plan to release it on the Glasgow train tonight. It has kept me company for the past 3 days. Fabulous book - needs to be read slowly and not when depressed. Hopefully it will find it's way home to Scotland where it belongs. It has made me want to venture beyond the tourist traps of Scotland and see just what the writer was saying. Don't just pass it on - read it and be absorbed by it."

The Dangerous Sports Euthanasia Society by Christine Coleman

Okay. I have to admit that I was pretty excited about this book to begin with just purely because the characters and storyline seemed so unusual, so different and therefore there may be a touch of bias on my part. That said, the book arrived yesterday and as soon as I started it, I just couldn't put it down. This book-- for me at least-- has everything. It's inspiring, intruiging, heartwarming and so much more. It pretty much runs the reader through the whole spectrum of emotions while reading it. I loved this book and look forward to seeing more of this author and publisher."

Gang of Four by Liz Byrski

"Loved this book. Set in Western Australia, a story about a group of 50ish women, all close friends. Could relate to something in each of their characters and thought it was a joy to read."

The Waiting Time by Sara Banerji

"I really enjoyed this book. In fact I read it in 24 hours! It has a deceptive simplicity which makes it easy to read but the novel is subtle and complex and addresses the theme of lost identity. I would say it is probably one for the ladies, but it is by no means chick-lit. The author is very good with dialogue and I could see this novel making a very good screenplay. The writing is very vivid and the characterisation is excellent. An author I would like to read more of. I envy my friend who took her creative writing course in Oxford."
